St. Petersburg, 30 Minutes West
Also known as St. Pete, this Florida city is a stone’s throw from Tampa. It’s packed with sights including beaches, world-renowned art, gardens, and so much more. The Salvador Dalí Museum, also known as The Dalí, is a must-visit for art lovers of all ages. The museum houses several original Dalí pieces and is also home to a gift shop and beautiful grounds to visit. There are additional art sights to see at The Chihuly Collection, The Morean Arts Center, and The Museum of Fine Arts, all located within St. Petersburg, FL.
While in St. Pete, FL, be sure to stop by Sunken Gardens. This beautiful four-acre site is packed with some of the oldest tropical plants in the region and the gardens have been one of the longest standing roadside attractions in the state. With gorgeous beaches, St. Pete is also home to impressive fishing spots and many visitors also take a charter boat for fishing Tampa Bay, which separates Tampa and St. Pete.
Many visitors also visit St. Pete for its scenic drives along waterways that are truly memorable. Fishing and unique drives combine at The Sunshine Skyway Bridge, which is the tallest bridge in Florida at 430 feet tall. This bridge has several nearby fishing piers that are popular for saltwater fishing.
Orlando, 1.5 Hours Northeast
When most people think of Florida vacations, Orlando is the first city that comes to mind. It’s no mystery why! Orlando is home to some of the world’s best theme parks along with shopping, museums, and delicious restaurants for every cuisine. Best of all, Orlando is the perfect day trip from Tampa.

Merritt Island, 2 Hours Northeast

Winter Haven, 1 Hour East
Winter haven is a popular day trip to take when you’re in Tampa. Just under an hour east from our Florida RV resort, there is so much to do around Winter Haven! It’s home to the Legoland theme park and it’s just a stone’s throw from Bok Tower Gardens in Lake Wales. Bok Tower Gardens is a stunning sight that combines Old Florida architecture with impressive gardens that make for perfect sightseeing on your Tampa day trip.
Spring Hill, 1 Hour North
Just north of Tampa, you’ll find Weeki Wachee Springs. This famous tourist attraction is known for its mermaid shows that have been delighting visitors for decades. Visitors to Spring Hill, FL can also enjoy the area’s beaches, water parks, and nature preserves.
Crystal River, 2 Hours North
Crystal River is an optimal Florida destination that’s a short drive from our Ocala RV dealership and close to Tampa as well. The area is famous for its wildlife preserve which is a popular destination for seeing Florida’s famous manatees. Visitors are even allowed to swim with manatees in their natural habitat, though there are specific laws that must be followed to ensure that these sea creatures are protected.
Sanibel Island, 2.5 Hours South
Head a little south from our Tampa RV dealership, drive across the famous causeway, and you’ll find yourself on Sanibel Island. This Florida gem is a Tampa day trip that’s perfect for taking things slowly and enjoying the island pace of life. Sanibel is home to several nature preserves including the J.N. “Ding” Darling National Wildlife Refuge that offers free tours to visitors. Sanibel is also known for its beautiful beaches that are covered in unique seashells which come in a wide array of colors.
Captiva is Sanibel’s neighboring island and can only be accessed by boat or by driving through Sanibel. It is home to famous restaurants, a shopping district, and truly memorable sunsets.
