Where would your road trip take you?
To give you an idea of what is possible with a $5,000 fuel card, we’ve come up with a few possible road trips using the KOA Fuel Cost Estimator.
Let’s say you wanted to travel from the East Coast to the West Coast. From Tampa to San Francisco is about 3,000 miles. If the cost of fuel is $2.50 per gallon, and your RV gets 10 miles per gallon, cross country travelfrom Tampa to San Francisco would cost you about $750. Plan for another 500 miles for sightseeing along the way, and your total would come to around $875.
Let’s say your goal was to hit a variety of historical sites and National Parks across the U.S. If you were to start at Lazydays RV in Tampa and head to Washington D.C. to visit the White House, Lincoln Memorial, Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial, and everything else in the National Mall, you’d have traveled about 900 miles at the cost of $225.
From the National Mall in Washington, D.C. to the Grand Canyon in Arizona is about 2,450 miles. That’s around $615 in fuel costs. From the Grand Canyon to Yosemite National Park in California, traveling through Death Valley, is about 475 miles and $120 in fuel.
Traveling from Yosemite National Park to Joshua Tree National Park in Southern California is about 175 miles and $100 in fuel. If you were to head north up the Pacific Coast see the Redwood Forest you’d travel about 300 miles for around $200.
From the Redwood National and State Park to Vancouver, B.C., you would travel about 635 miles, and spend about $160.
