RV TRIP CHECKLIST AND MAINTENANCE LIST

There’s nothing quite like the excitement before any RV trip. The open road beckons and adventure awaits, with some great experiences sure to be had. Between planning and packing, one thing that can be overlooked is making sure your RV is in working order. Prior to every trip, an essential step is to make sure your coach is in top shape. PRE-TRIP MAINTENANCE CHECKLIST

Before heading out, make sure the following components of your RV are in working condition:

  • RV Batteries: Make sure your RV batteries are fully charged and have the correct water levels. If they were unplugged for winter storage, make sure they have been reconnected properly.
  • RV Appliances: Start with your propane tanks (if your RV uses them) and make sure the tanks, connections, valves and starters are in good condition. Then, test appliances like your refrigerator, water heater, and AC unit to see if they are working and are receiving ample power from your electrical or LP gas system.
  • RV Tires: Inspect the treads for wear and/or damage and measure the tire pressure. Check your owner’s manual for the correct PSI.
  • RV Engine: Make sure all engine fluid levels are correct and filters were replaced at recommended intervals.
  • RV Generator: Check your generator oil level (per the owner’s manual) and filter before firing up your generator for a test run. If everything looks alright, start it up and test all electrical appliances, devices and lights in your RV.
  • RV Water and Plumbing Systems: If your RV was in storage for the winter, de-winterize the water system by flushing any antifreeze from the system. Add water to the fresh water holding tank and turn all faucets on to ensure the system is functioning properly. Make sure to check the rest of your RV’s plumbing system for leaks as well.
  • RV Roof: Check your RV rooftop for voids in the sealant or damage that may have occurred. Make sure to use caution when moving on your RV’s roof.
